The Island tour can paddle up to 7 miles and will include sights of some of the tallest peaks in the state, including two 14,000 peaks, Grays and Torreys, the Gore Range, and the Ten Mile Range. Because of snow, the Mount Evans Scenic Byway (Highway 5) is generally open to Vehicles all the way to the summit only from Memorial Day to Labor Day. (The day after Labor Day, the road is open from Echo Lake to the upper Summit Lake through the first weekend in October, weather permitting, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
